Kate and the Beanstalk

Last time we were at the library we got Kate and the Beanstalk by Mary Pope Osborne.  It's Jack and the Beanstalk with a female protagonist.  Both kids immediately loved it, so much so that they quickly memorized the most famous lines of the book.  Here's Eden reciting them.  They're changed just a little because they refer to Kate, not Jack.

Oh, this is so wonderful! Can't watch it enough! She is a true thespian. Love you both tons. Love the dramatic headshake at the end especially. :) Quite a fearsome giant!

I have made my protest clear to Christina, that we are not free to modify established fairy stories to accommodate gender sensitivities, certainly not in the egregious form of "Fee, Fi, Fo, Fum'n."

But Eden makes it work. As usual.
