Baby bunnies!!!

This is Eden writing. Yes, little Eden, who is now 13 and whose mother finally taught to make posts on the blog (after I begged her for months). Since Ma rarely posts anymore, I've decided to start doing a bit of blogging myself, since I'm a decent writer and have always loved the blog. I have decided that a worthy first post would be a classic -- Baby Bunnies!
Winnie, one of our two mini rexes, had babies this summer. 8, to be specific, and none of them died. Not bad for her first time! Their names are Hazel, Rosemary (or Rosy), Blackavar and Lil' Blackie (both most commonly called Lil' Blackavar since they are impossible to tell apart), Spotty, Fiver, Cheesecake (who was named by Faith -- everyone else insists that his name should be Oreo. I thought it was a bit too cliché.), and Milky.

Winnifred (Winnie), the mom.

Brand new babies!

Luna had a weird obsession with the bunnies. She was both intrigued and terrified.

...The bunnies, however, paid her no mind.

Here's Hazel in our Photoshoot

We had to bribe them with dandelion leaves to get them to stay still

Milky, just chillin'

We sold all of them in the end. All of my friends met them and begged their parents to let them have one. They were all unsuccessful, except for Alice, who in the end took Rosy and Blackavar (rechristened Jasmine) to their new home. They seem to be loving it, and it's obvious that Alice loves them.

Mark Drama

Z and Eden participated in a small skit from Mark before the sermon on Sunday:

Ethiopia Report

And here are some pictures and videos from Ethiopia itself:

This is proof that Nathan was there too.  I just have very few photos of him!

17!

Z turned 17 on July 15!  Eden mad the cake, and fun was had by all (although the bunny seems a little freaked out).

Lake Winnipeg

We decided to a take a spur of the moment vacation to Lake Winnipeg right after school ended.  We originally planned this trip for May 2020, but then covid hit, and we didn't do it.  But this year we did!  We hiked, ate some genuinely awful Chinese food, thoroughly enjoyed the lake, watched the recent Planet of the Apes trilogy, listened to The Great Gatsby, and had fun and fantastic conversations.  Good times.

We found an old payphone which the kids were fascinated by.  I told Z about making collect calls to my parents when I was a kid and he wanted to try it.  So he made a collect call to Nate (youth group leader), but it wasn't nearly as fun because everything is automated now and you can't hear the person you're calling until after they've accepted the charges.  Boo!!

Z was determined to catch his hat when we threw it to him off this tower.  But he never did.

The lake was really beautiful and really big!

Fossils!

Z was teaching Eden how to skip rocks

Our place was just a quick walk to the lake.  One evening the lake was still, just like a mirror.

And one morning Z and I got up in time to see the sunset.  Gorgeous!

There were lots of rock throwing and rock skipping contests.

We had fun taking panoramic pictures, especially once we discovered how to get the same person in the picture twice!

On the way home we stopped at the Museum of Human Rights in Winnipeg and saw Malala.

Prom 2024

Z went to prom with Elise.  She is a good friend and his debate partner.  They looked amazing!  And it sounds like they had a good time, too!

Picking up Elise and getting help with his boutonniere from her dad.

Giving Elise her corsage.

Looking gorgeous!  (And ready for fun with those tennis shoes.)

Talking with the parents after the promenade and before dinner and the dance.
