Sunday

Just a few things from the last couple of days.

Z recording something for school:

Eden set up her calico critters for church:

And it was warm enough for some outdoor time.  We traced Phin with the sidewalk chalk, and then Eden drew a cat to make it look like she was chasing the cat.

#9

Eden's 9th birthday was yesterday!  Even though we couldn't do a lot of the things we normally do on a birthday, we still had a really fun day.  We took several videos to chronicle the day.

Making the birthday key lime pie.  The birthday girl was a great helper!

Having a Zoom birthday party.  They played charades, which turned out to be a great idea!

Opening presents:

And the birthday song!

And a few pictures:

Eden picked the menu: roasted (blackened -- her choice!) carrots, mashed potatoes and gravy, and fried chicken thighs.  It was delicious if I do say so myself!

Opening a card from Grandma and Grandpa.

She got a new family of Calico Critters and made a car (complete with seatbelts) for them this morning.

First Day of School from Home

The silver lining to all this?  Sleeping in and reading Harry Potter.

Z did all his work without any help.  He's amazing!  I'm going to do his gym class with him tomorrow because it looks like a pretty good workout.  Eden got to talk to her teacher and some classmates by video

And we're counting down the days til Eden's birthday.  Literally.

Walk at Lake Alvin

There's one member of our family who is enjoying the consequences of the corona virus:

Phin is getting way more walks than normal!  Yesterday we went out to Lake Alvin, which is only a few miles from our house.  It was windy and chilly, but still pretty.

Sunday at Home

I've decided I should post regularly while we're in stay-at-home mode, both to keep in touch with everyone and to keep a record of these strange days.

We started out trying to do church on our TV, which was a little tricky, but we eventually figured it out.

Then the kids and I made peanut butter sandwich cookies and Eden and I painted our toenails.

And Z played Oblivian.

And Eden has been missing the libary, so she made her own!

Last Visitors to the Zoo

Two weekends ago we went to Omaha for two days.  It was my spring break, so we took the kids out of school and headed to Omaha.  We wanted to get some good Thai food and see the zoo.  So we did.
I neglected to take very many pictures, but we did have a good time, and now it looks like we were some of the last visitors to the zoo before it closed for the current crisis.  I'm glad we went!

This is the traditional picture we started taking at the zoo years ago.  Z has changed a little.  To see the first iteration, check here, the last picture on the post.
